Google Sheets Integration (Worker Labels)
How to sync worker labels from a customer-managed Google Sheet using phone-number matching
Overview
The Google Sheets integration allows labels to be automatically applied to Sitemetric workers by syncing data from a customer-managed Google Sheet. The integration runs on a 30-minute sync cycle.
Setup Requirements
1. Create the Google Sheet
Include the following columns:
- First Name *(separate column preferred over a combined Name field)*
- Last Name
- Company
- Phone Number *(required for reliable matching)*
2. Name the Tab
The tab name on the sheet becomes the label applied to matched workers. The label can be anything — the tab name is what the integration reads.
3. Share the Sheet
Share the sheet with the Sitemetric service account:
integrations@sitemetric.iam.gserviceaccount.com
4. Submit a Request
Request initiation of the integration, specifying the sheet and the tab(s) to sync.
How Matching Works
- The integration syncs every 30 minutes.
- Phone number is the primary match field. It carries the heaviest weight and is the most reliable way to guarantee a match.
- If no phone number is present, the system falls back to an open search scored on first name, last name, and company name — though this method is less reliable, especially for common names or when company names in the sheet don't match what's in Sitemetric.
- If a worker on the sheet cannot be matched to a Sitemetric worker record, the label will not be applied.
Best Practices
- Require phone number. Company name matching is unreliable due to abbreviations, parent company names, and formatting differences. Phone number matching eliminates most lookup failures.
- Use separate First Name / Last Name columns rather than a combined Name field.
- Tab names should reflect the intended label clearly, since the tab name is applied directly to matched workers.
